Residential Cleaning: Do You Need To Be Home?

Blog

Hiring a residential cleaning service is a great way to keep up on your household cleaning, while freeing up time for other things. However, if you have not used a cleaning service before, you might not know how it works. One thing to keep in mind is that in some cases you need to be home, but not always. Here are some questions to ask yourself when deciding if you should be present when the cleaning company arrives.

Have they been there before?

The first question to ask yourself when you are considering whether or not to be home for the cleaners is if they have been to your home before. Many cleaning companies ask that you at least be home to welcome them during their very first visit. This allows you to give them a tour of the house, show them what needs to be done, and arrange payment if that has not been settled already. You can also ask them questions at this time or show them where your cleaning supplies are if you want your own to be used.

Do you have any special requests?

You should also consider being home if you have special requests for the residential cleaners. For example, if you want them to pay more attention to one area of your home, you can be home when they arrive to inform them, then leave or remain home for your other chores. However, some cleaning companies are fine with you leaving a note about what you want cleaned and certain special requests, such as having the refrigerator cleaned out, or washing the sheets on all the beds. It is a good idea to find this out beforehand.

Do you want to leave a tip?

You may also want to be home for the cleaners if you intend to leave a tip. Before you leave a tip, make sure you understand the company's rules about them. Some cleaning companies might not accept tips, while others gladly will but only if you give them by hand. However, if your cleaning company says you can just leave it on the counter with a note, you shouldn't need to be home. Just make sure they know it is for them with a clear note to the cleaners.

Have you provided them with a way in?

The first time the cleaning company arrives, it is a good idea to be there to let them in. Once they come by the first time, you can give them instructions for letting themselves in. You can hide a key where they know to find it, or you can give them a security code if you have an electronic lock on your door. Contact a business, such as the People's Maintenance Company, for more information.

An Easter Celebration

Growing up, I was extremely close to my family. In fact, I lived with my parents and my sister until I married my husband eleven years ago. Unfortunately, I moved seventy-five long miles away from my family after my wedding. But I still visit my childhood home at least once each month. Our growing family also still celebrates all of the major holidays including Easter. Because my husband and I plan to start a family soon, we hope to begin hosting more family gatherings at our home. When this takes happens, I know I will need help cleaning my house. On this blog, I hope you will discover how hiring cleaning services can help you plan a stress-free Easter celebration.
