3 Ways To Keep Your Office Breakroom Cleaner

Blog

An office breakroom is an excellent place of retreat for your employees. However, a breakroom can quickly turn into a space of chaos if there are not clear cleaning guidelines. If you have struggled with keeping the breakroom in your office clean, here are some tips that can help you reach your goals.

1. Create a Label System

Set up a label system for refrigerator use. To set up the system, purchase small labels in varying colors. Set a color for each day of the week, such as red for Monday and blue for Thursday. Keep the stickers that coordinate with the current day near the refrigerator and require that the employees put the coordinating day sticker on their food.

At the end of the day, remove the stickers that match with a specific day of the week. For example, if you have a 48-hour rule, given the previous example, you would remove all food items labeled with the red sticker on Thursday. A label system makes cleaning the refrigerator easy, and it prevents you from having items lingering inside the refrigerator for a long time.

2. Require Microwave Cleaning

If your employees want to use the microwave, it's a good idea to require that each person clean the microwave after each use. Microwaves are relatively easy to keep clean when they are cleaned routinely. However, the less they are cleaned, the more food buildup that collects inside of them, which makes them nasty and more of a challenge to clean.

Keep paper towels near the refrigerator and ask your employees to quickly wipe down the microwave each time they use it. At the end of the day, you can use a cleaner to wipe the inside and outside of the microwave.

3. Purchase Cleaning Wipes

For spills along the countertops or tables, don't use sponges. While it might be convenient for an employee to quickly grab a sponge and wipe the counter down, this practice is hardly ever safe. The average sponge contains all sorts of harmful bacteria. When you continue to use the sponge, you're just spreading the bacteria around.

Purchase cleaning wipes instead. The wipes are just as convenient, but since you're getting a new wipe each time, there is no risk of spreading germs. Additionally, since the wipes are already treated with a cleaning agent, you don' have to worry about buying an additional cleaning product.

All of these tips are great, but to truly keep the room clean, you need to start with professional services. Hiring a commercial cleaning service to clean your building gives your employees a clean surface that they can just work to maintain. Contact a cleaning specialist such as Valley Commercial Cleaning for additional information.

An Easter Celebration

Growing up, I was extremely close to my family. In fact, I lived with my parents and my sister until I married my husband eleven years ago. Unfortunately, I moved seventy-five long miles away from my family after my wedding. But I still visit my childhood home at least once each month. Our growing family also still celebrates all of the major holidays including Easter. Because my husband and I plan to start a family soon, we hope to begin hosting more family gatherings at our home. When this takes happens, I know I will need help cleaning my house. On this blog, I hope you will discover how hiring cleaning services can help you plan a stress-free Easter celebration.
